My work references the existential stress and emotional anguish examined in Henrik Ibsen’s play A Doll’s House (1879). This play provides a direct existential challenge to personal engagement relating to issues of gender. There is a questioning of the Utopian dream of an existence in freedom and truth referencing instead a complex place of loss, alienation and the objectification of women.
