From the Possible Histories of the Universe series, begun 2023.

In Are We Hologram, I explore the notion of a holographic universe and the concept of lambda as the cosmological constant, the term Einstein introduced, then famously disowned, to describe the energy density of empty space.

Routed circles mark formed and semi-formed universes within a multiverse. At the centre, a circle adorned with gold leaf represents our own cosmos, singular, luminous, set apart from the other possible worlds surrounding it.

The work draws on de Sitter space and conformal field theory, and the proposition that our universe may be a holographic projection from a lower-dimensional reality: that everything we perceive as solid and three-dimensional is, at its deepest level, information encoded on a distant surface.
